Verizon in Oakland!!!
During George's visit last weekend, we were able to conquer most of our to-do list for the wedding...tuxes, registering, ring shopping and checking out some very cute furniture that I found (in my humble, unbiased opinion:) We also went out for sushi at Ko Fusion, one of his favorite restaurants in Champaign and went to see the movie, "Amazing Grace."
We had quite a few laughs over the weekend, but this one takes the cake. Verizon cell phones do not work in Oakland. Period. We used to have one and found it very inconvenient. For instance, my Dad would be harvesting behind our house and my mom could not reach him via phone even though she could see him in the combine. In order to use the phone, we would have to go approximately 2 miles out of Oakland in any direction and would get perfect reception. Well anyway, George has a Verizon phone and never gets reception here, but with our homemade "antenna" (aka. salad tongs), he was able to get a couple bars and even make a call. This is something that could be tried at home. Never know, it may work!

Come meet Nick Vujicic in November!
Two weeks ago, we had the opportunity to meet Nick Vujicic and we found out yesterday that he is going to be able to come to our father/son camp in November. I copied the following from Nick's website:"It says in James 1:2 - "Consider it pure joy, my Brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds." ....To count our hurt, pain and struggle as nothing but pure joy? As my parents were Christians, and my Dad even a Pastor of our church, they knew that verse very well. However, on the morning of the 4th of December 1982 in Melbourne (Australia), the last two words on the minds of my parents was "Praise God!". Their firstborn son had been born without limbs! There were no warnings or time to prepare themselves for it. The doctors were shocked and had no answers at all!"
Visit Nick's website, www.lifewithoutlimbs.org, or if you are interested in coming to the camp, visit www.fathersoncamp.org

Crystal Cathedral
On Friday, our quartet headed to Los Angeles for our performance at the Crystal Cathedral. It was a great trip, and the warm weather was a welcome change from 8 inches of snow here in Illinois!
Our parents and grandparents joined us on the trip, and on Saturday we headed over to the cathedral to check out where we would be performing the following day. Above is the quartet- Krista, Therese, Leah and Megan- under the sign outside the cathedral.
A view of the cathedral, the bell tower and sunny California skies!
